LEBANON
Faraya and Cedars-LEBANON: A STORY OF POWDER AND
PEOPLE-Lebanon is a tiny country in which you can get almost anywhere
in two hours or less. In one day, one can ski above 2500 meters,
swim in the Mediterranean, enjoy sightseeing in the oldest city
in the world, and still have the time, if not the energy, for
a night in the casino. Our visit to this fascinating country was
full of surprises. The skiing was of international quality, and
it snowed almost nonstop during our ten-day stay in late march.
The scenery was more beautiful than I could have imagined, and
the archeological sites of Byblos and Baalbek are some of the
most impressive in the world. Perhaps best of all was the warm
hospitality of the people, which, I am sure, will put Lebanon
back on the tourist map as soon as the world realizes that the
long war that ravaged the country for so many years is a thing
of the past.
