CZECH REPUBLIC AND HUNGARY
Spindleruv Mlyn, Mt. Kekes, and Galyatetö-FOR
SKIAHOLICS ONLY: JUST IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING-This is a somewhat
tongue-in-cheek report about skiing in Hungary and the Czech Republic.
The downhill skiing in Hungary is so flat that it looks more like
cross-country skiing, but it does afford a skier the possibility
to see one of the great cities of the world, Budapest, and still
get his skiing fix. The Czech Republic has skiing that is quite
acceptable for families. It is inexpensive, the infrastructure
is satisfactory, and again one can combine skiing with a visit
to beautiful Prague. The photo emphasis on this feature is on
the spectacular cities, while there are, of course, photos of
the ski areas as well. In Hungary, I visit Mt. Kékes, Hungarys
highest peak (1015 m.) and Galyatetö, and in the Czech Republic,
I skied in Spindleruv Mlyn. The article also acts as a city guide
to the two great capitals of these East European republics.
