Apussuit Mountain Camp-THE WIDE OPEN SPACES OF GREENLAND-To visit
Greenland is to enter the most fantastic winter wonderland in
the world. The world’s fastest moving glacier calving icebergs
the size of a city block into a dark blue fjord is just one of
the amazing attractions. One can experience dog sledding with
people who practice this art on a daily basis for transportation
or one can paddle a kayak among the icebergs. One can also ski
among this unusual scenery. We spent six days skiing in Apussuit
Mountain Camp, where snowmobiles hauled us up the mountains of
our choice in a ski center where we were the only skiers of the
season. The main article describes the skiing amidst the fjords
and glaciers of Apussuit. There are separate side bars to describe
dog sledding and the amazing Ilulissat ice fjord which produces
enough ice in one day to supply the city of New York with water
for an entire year.
