SKIING IN ARGENTINA--THE LORD GIVETH AND THE LORD TAKETH AWAY-This
feature is a complete guide to Argentine skiing. It covers the
ski areas of Las Leñas, Bariloche, San Martin de Los Andes,
Caviahue, Cerro Bayo, and La Hoya. It serves both as a guide to
the skiing as well as telling an interesting story about our experience
intertwined with a tale of what is good and bad about Argentina.
We experienced some great skiing and some stunning views of the
lakes from the ski centers. We also experienced the poor organization
and maintenance that go hand in hand with the country's mentality.
Chairs detached from their cable in Bariloche and a bus hand brake
malfunctioned in Las Leñas, leaving our car trashed. Ultimately,
we were left with the question of what price we were willing to
pay for the beautiful skiing here.
LAS LEÑAS--THE BEST SKIING IN SOUTH AMERICA-This
essay describes Las Leñas in the same manner as in the
above article. This is meant as a shorter alternative to the complete
Argentina article.
