SKIING IN THE THIRD WORLD-a humorous essay of a typical experience in a third world country, this particular story taking place in Rio Turbio, Argentina, a tiny ski area near the Chilean border. Nobody in the town of Puerto Natales, 20 km. away, had ever heard of Rio Turbio. Five hours into the ski day, I was the first skier on the slopes in 30 cm. of powder. I rode back to town in a minibus full of Methane miners. All of this and more adds up to an ordinary day of skiing in the third world.
