ABOUT JIMMY PETTERSON
 |
Jimmy Petterson is an American,
educated at the University of Southern California,
and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in
history, a Teaching Credential, and a Master's degree
in Instruction and Curriculum. He could have spent
his life as a teacher, molding young minds and preparing
the next generation to take over our world. Instead,
to his father's great disappointment and sorrow, he
has spent the last thirty years as a ski bum.
Jimmy's pursuit of the ultimate ski run and the perfect
powder dump has taken him through such jobs as ski
instructor, off-piste guide, travel guide, slope-side
singer-entertainer, ski-bar owner, hotelkeeper, ski
travel arranger, and most recently, ski writer and
photographer. He has skied in over 40 different countries
during his search for ski nirvana, and his work as
been published in thirteen of those lands. Mr. Petterson's |
journalistic accomplishments include over 200 published
feature articles on the subject of skiing, in which he has
described his visits and experiences in such far flung ski
destinations as Bolivia, Iceland, Greenland, Turkey, Greece,
Lebanon, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrghyzstan, Albania,
Soviet Georgia, Chile, ndorra, Alaska, India, Slovakia and
Poland. He has also written about and photographed many
of the more conventional ski areas of the Alps and the Rocky
Mountains. Nevertheless, he has created a niche for himself
in his coverage of the more odd and unusual ski destinations.

Will
Jimmy's son Erik also be a disappointment
to his dad and avoid the ski bum life in favor
of a Conventional 9-5 existence?

| The
first time in many years when nobody saw Jimmy with
an open mouth for an entire day was when the snow
was so deep in Davos that he was forced to where this
mask for eight hours straight. |
|
Currently, Mr. Petterson is working on combining his many
adventures into a coffee table book with the theme and title:
Skiing Around the World. (See Preview of the Book, for more
details.) When he is not searching the world for obscure
ski resorts, he is organizing and hosting conference and
incentive trips for companies, and even arranging group
holidays for groups of families. Jimmy spends much of each
winter in the Alps, and when he is not traveling, he resides
in Gothenburg, Sweden.
